Activity 1 - Inferencing.
Choose an important chapter from the book. Sketch what you think is hidden, implied, or not directly stated in the text. Write 3 clues from the text that helped them infer what was behind the door.
Activity 2 - Determining Importance.
Pick a chapter or section. Write five events/ideas, then place them on a ladder from least important → most important. Justify the top two choices in a short sentence.

Students write 5 questions they would ask a character.

Identify the Theme:
Think about the main ideas or lessons in the book so far.
Write the theme (e.g., friendship, courage, acceptance, anger, violence, bullying, control over aothers, love) in the center of your brain map.
Think about How the Theme changes:
Around the theme, create branches showing how it is being changed as the story went on.
Add details for each branch, focusing on:
Characters: How do their actions or words show the theme?
Events: What events in the story highlight this theme?
Setting: How does the setting help bring out the theme?
Include Examples:
Write or draw specific examples from the book to support each branch of your map.
Use key phrases, quotes, or sketches to explain your ideas.

Is the book a challenging book? Could you compare to any other books that you may have read or know?
Choose three characters from the story. Explain how they developed from the start to the end of the story. Conflicts they faced? Choices they needed to make? Impact of events on them? How did they change from the beginning to the end?
Who is the most interesting character? Why?
Who could you relate to the most in the book? Why?
From whose point of view is the story told from? Give some examples of it.
What is the plot of the story?
Give an alternative title to the story.
What was the pivotal scene in the story? Is this the same as the climax?
Choose two powerful quotes from the book. Explain why you choose these quotes.
